There is No “BUT…” with God. Which
“BUT” do you carry in your vocabulary? “BUT God I am too old”. “BUT God I am too young”. “BUT God it is not convenient now”. “BUT God the times are too difficult”. “BUT God I don’t know enough”. “BUT God I am only a woman”. “BUT God I am married”. “BUT God I am divorced”. “BUT God I am single”. “BUT God I have children”. “BUT God I have no children”. “BUT God I am scared”. “BUT God the elders will say I am rebellious”. “BUT
God what will my friends say?” Some women of the past could have used at least one of these excuses but they didn’t. *Jochebed, the mother of Moses could have said that the times were too difficult for her to have a child. After all every male baby had to be killed off. So what was the point of producing a son only to have him killed anyway? *Elisabeth the wife of the priest Zacharias could have used the excuse that she was too old to have a child. And that was not really an excuse for it was a fact of life that she was past the age of child bearing. Something God must have known about when He sent the angel Gabriel to her husband. And then the teenager *Mary
could have easily used the excuse that she was too young. And then to find
herself pregnant out of wedlock. Anyway who would believe her story that she
was still a virgin and that God had impregnated her while keeping her
virginity in tact? Now we know from Scripture that each of these three women did indeed fulfil the plans God had for them. They all in their time gave birth to a child. They all dared to trust God and bring forth that which God had for them. I believe that God is challenging
each one of us to be like these women of faith and to accept the plans and
purposes of God in our lives regardless of the circumstances, the people, or
whatever it might be that is trying to block the very reasons for our being
here on earth. God says “You did not choose Me,
but I choose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit - fruit that will last”. *Exodus 2 : 1 > *Luke 1: 24 > *Luke 1: 38
